Goals:

The work group for Palaeoanthropology and Prehistoric Anthropology (APPA) is dedicated to the comprehensive analysis of past populations in a time span starting with the beginnings of hominid evolution on through to recent modern times. The spectrum of methods employed ranges from osteology to molecular archaeology. The APPA offers regular workshops in order to augment the GfA meetings and provides the opportunity for discourse regarding running projects and planned research intentions within the field. Problem statements and themes from the last workshop stem from the following areas: dental anthropology (1993), traumatology (1995), epidemiology (1997), as well as from various branches within the field (1999).
