Goals:
Presently, questions to upbringing and its association to problems involving man's living environment are a central focus of societal interest. Such questions are traditionally addressed by scientists studying education, however, they are progressively becoming the point of interest for all branches of the humanities.
The work group Anthropology and Pedagogics can be viewed as a platform for the interdisciplinary cooperation between education and empirically oriented research areas of the humanities such as human ethology, psycology and human biology as well as physical anthropology.
Members of this work collective have their roots in the areas of pedagogics and anthropology and also other related, empirically oriented humanities. Therefore, the outstanding feature of this work group is the foundation of transdisciplinary work and interdisciplinary understanding.
The present focus of the work group Anthropology and Pedagogics are the phenomena of upbringing, learning and teaching, as well as the phylogenetic, ontogenetic, biological, and sociological consequences of upbringing and "anthropological constants" in empirical research and discussions. This approach clarifies the anthropological dimension of education while at the same time emphasizing the importance of anthropologically oriented humanities in society.
